Fairview School receives grant from Community of the Ozarks Foundation

Fairview R XI School District received a Community of the Ozarks Foundation grant for a total of $2,389.00.  The grant was given by the West Plains Greenhouses and Nursery Fund which is sponsored by Lisa and Nathan Cropper. Money from this grant will support the Developing MindWise Middle Schoolers program at Fairview which will be spearheaded by counselor Tabby Wade.

Money from the grant will purchase the SOS Signs of Suicide program which is “an evidence-based youth suicide prevention program that has demonstrated an improvement in students’ knowledge and adaptive attitudes about mental health, suicide risk, and depression. SOS teaches students how to identify signs of depression and suicide in themselves and their peers, while providing materials that support school professionals, parents, and communities in recognizing at-risk students and taking appropriate action. The goal of SOS is to teach students what to do if they are worried about themselves or a friend.
