OREGON COUNTY—According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a Thayer man died in an accident just after 3 p.m. Friday in Oregon County.
The patrol reports a 2013 Dodge Ram driven by Matthew J. Carson, 36, Pocahontas, Ark., was southbound on U.S. 63 three miles south of KoshKonong.

The pickup rear-ended a 1986 Jeep Cherokee driven by Gary M. Phipps, 49, Thayer, that was stopped in the road waiting to make a left turn.
Phipps was ejected onto the road. A northbound 2010 GMC Acadia driven by Amanda L. Williams, 44, Paragould, AR., struck Phipps.
Phipps was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to Troop G of the highway Patrol, this is the 37th fatality of the year, compared to 39 at this time last year.
