Ava, MO. – A fatality has been confirmed in a serious accident that occurred yesterday morning near Ava, MO.
The time of this fatal crash was 7:51 on the morning of Monday, August 28th. The location was Missouri Highway 5, roughly one-quarter mile South of Ava city limits. The Missouri State Highway Patrol investigator on this crash was Sergeant L.S. Elliott of Troop G.
Martin Lane, a 68-year-old male was driving a GMC Sierra while travelling Northbound. According to the report, Lane ran off the road multiple times before finally travelling off the left side, striking an embankment, and overturning the vehicle.
Martin Lane was inflicted with moderate injuries and was transported to Cox Medical Center in Springfield. One occupant, Lester Lane, 75 of Ava, was fatally injured in the accident.
This marks the 21st fatality reported in Troop G for 2023, compared to 16 this time last year, a 31% increase.
