Fire Contained at Ellsinore Charcoal Plant

While evacuations were being recommended to area residents late Wednesday as a fire broke out at the Royal Oak charcoal plant in Ellsinore, emergency responders say the blaze is now contained. The fire is reported to have come from one of the kilns at the facility and was likely fueled by excessive winds across the region.

While the FEMA shelter in Ellsinore was opened yesterday in the event of evacuation needs, residents have not been given the all-clear. While the fire is now contained, firefighters are still monitoring the charcoal plant for any possible flare-ups.
