Missouri – Voters will be marching to vote today, August 6, 2024. Here are five useful tips it wouldn’t hurt to know before you vote.
Remember to check your voter registration. If you are not currently registered to vote, you won’t be able to cast a ballot today, but you still have time to register ahead of the general election in November. You can vote by mail, in person, or online. If you decide to do a mail-in registration make sure they are postmarked by the fourth Wednesday before the election.
Polls opened at 6 a.m. today and will close at 7 p.m. If you are waiting in line already when it hits 7:00 p.m., you still have the right to cast your vote.
To be able to vote, you must have a form of voter ID. Forms accepted include a non-expired Missouri driver or non-driver license, a non-expired military ID (this does include a veteran’s ID card), a non-expired United States passport, or another photo ID issued by the U.S. or the state of Missouri which is either not expired or expired after the date of the most recent election. If you don’t have any form of photo ID, but are a registered voter, you can cast a provisional ballot. Your ballot will only count if you return to your polling place on Election Day with a photo ID or the signature on your provisional ballot envelope is determined to match the signature on your voter registration card by your local election authority, according to the SOS.
If you need assistance voting, there a some options available for you. One is curbside voting, which is a clearly marked signage with polling location contact information posted at each polling location. The other is Bi-partisan election judge team assistance, which means that if requested a bi-partisan team can assist a voter with marking a ballot or a voter can bring a person of their choosing to help you mark your ballot.
