Fourth of July celebration postponed

Frank Vanhorn and the Eleven-Point Fire Department have sadly decided to post-pone the 4th of July Fireworks Display due to the unexpected pandemic of COVID-19 and are discussing to have it at a later time this year with a possibility of either Labor Day Weekend or the weekend of Bear Fest, which is slated for October 3rd, 2020.  This was an extremely hard decision to make, however, they knew with all the mandates of social distancing, felt it almost impossible to move forward.

With the early required purchases of fireworks from vendors at an earlier date, it would also make it difficult to put on the show that Willow Springs and the surrounding community has enjoyed for many years prior.  The Eleven-Point Fire Department has always set a high expectation of themselves to provide this community with a fun-filled day of food, music and a grand explosion of fireworks to end the evening.

Frank Vanhorn, Eleven-Point Fire Chief, stated, “When decisions were being made on the Federal and State level to require social distancing and limit gatherings of people, we knew that having this year’s festivities, was not going to be an easy task.  We take the gravity of this virus and the safety of our community very serious and will always side with maintaining the health of our neighbors as a priority.  We will continue to assess the phasing-in measures provided to us by Governor Parson and the Department of Health and plan a way to have a day of celebration with fireworks in the near future and showing the community our gratefulness and that we are “Show-Me Strong”.

As information is received, the Eleven-Point Fire Department will make a decision on the date of the Firework Display and will announce those plans once everything is set. If you have any questions, please contact Frank Vanhorn at 417-252-7185.
