Free online Winter Ozarks Ag Series begins Feb. 8

West Plains, Mo.- The Webster County MU Extension in partnership with Howell County MU Extension, will offer a free online series on ways to manage and profit from farming along with rural enterprises in agriculture.  The course will be offered via Zoom on three different evenings, which can be viewed from a participant’s home.  Twelve topics will be offered. Those registering for the program can select six topics of their interest. The presentations are no longer than one hour each and participants can register for multiple sessions.

Feb. 8th  

6-7pm

  • Session 1 – Virtual Farm Tour-What do you need to Profitably Grow and Market Fruits and Vegetables?
  • Session 2 – The Great Debate: Artificial Insemination vs. Bull.

7-8pm

  • Session 3 – Growing year-round with high tunnels.
  • Session 4 – Understanding your Hay/Forage Analysis

Feb. 15th

6-7pm

  • Session 5 – Sheep and Goats: A good option for the Ozarks?
  • Session 6 – Weeding Out Your Pastures: Strategies for controlling common pasture weeds.

7-8pm

  • Session 7 – Beyond the Leghorn: Raising Specialty Poultry.
  • Session 8 – Fertilizing on a budget.

Feb. 22nd

6-7pm

  • Session 9 – What beef producers need to know about feeder and slaughter cattle grades.
  • Session 10 – Missouri Farm Leases

7-8pm

  • Session 11 – Live animal/carcass evaluation
  • Session 12 – Managing pastures for optimal performance.
