Frequent Speeding Violations Leads to Increased Police Presence Near West Plains Schools

West Plains, MO. – Beginning today, the West Plains Police Department are stepping up law enforcement when it comes to speeding violations around the West Plains Elementary, Junior High, and High School.

Officer Connor Burnes told Ozark Radio News that this is due to consistent complaints of speeding along the crosswalks near the schools. During school hours, the speed limit for streets that border the schools is 15mph.

As a result of the complains, equipment that warns drivers of their speeds had been set up, and police were deployed to warn people who were caught speeding. However, the speed problem has yet to decrease. Now, the local PD will begin stricter enforcement of speeding laws, and will continue to do so until the situation improves.
