On Friday, December 18, 2020 at approximately 11:32 PM, the West Plains Police Department received a call to a residence on Seventh Street for a report of shots fired and someone with a possible gunshot wound.
Upon arrival, officers secured and entered the residence. Once inside, officers located a male subject deceased from an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

The male victim has been identified as 18 year old Christian Gabriel Lee Smedley-Atterberry of West Plains. Next of kin has been notified.
While the investigation has not concluded, investigators are confident in saying there is no danger to the community regarding this matter.
The investigation is continuing at this time and more information will be released when mad available.
