Union, AR. – A bridge in Fulton County was recently closed after a recent routine inspection of the structure, which led to a detour and inconvenience to local drivers.
The bridge, listed as the Harkle Road Creek Bridge by the Arkansas Department of Transportation, is located on Highway 9 in Fulton County. The bridge, as of yesterday afternoon, has been reopened to traffic in a limited capacity.
The bridge is still being assessed, but one lane has been approved for public access and use. A portable traffic signal has been installed on each end of the bridge to allow one lane of traffic to travel across.
Drivers should plan ahead and still expect some delays in their commute should they use this route, and using caution while proceeding through the area is urged.
Work is estimated to last roughly eight weeks before the bridge will be fully reopened for public use.
