School and community leaders from across the region will gather tonight for a public town hall focused on the future of rural education in Missouri. The event will take place at the West Plains Civic Center, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and the program beginning at 6.

Hosted jointly by Fairview R‑XI, Glenwood R‑VIII, Howell Valley R‑I, Junction Hill C‑XII, Richards R‑V, and West Plains R‑VII, the forum will center on current state legislation, school funding issues, and how proposed changes could affect rural districts.

Duane Martin, an education advocate and attorney with EDCounsel, will serve as the keynote speaker, offering insight into policy developments and challenges facing small schools.

Organizers say the town hall is open to the public and encourage parents, educators, and community members to attend and take part in the discussion about the future of rural schools.
