Gainesville, MO. – The month of May is an awareness month packed full of various important issues, but one aspect in particular hits very close to home for one graduate of Gainesville High School.
Her name is Katelyn Morris, and Katelyn was once diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2017. Now, in 2023, after having survived and recovering through surgery, she is organizing a 5k run coinciding with Brain Tumor & Cancer Awareness Month, which takes place in May.
This event, called “Go Gray in May 5k”, will take place on May 20th, and will begin on the square in Gainesville. The cost for this event will be $25 for early registration, and $30 on the day of the event.
While brain tumors don’t happen to a majority of the population, statistics state 200,000 people in the US yearly are diagnosed with brain tumors. Brain tumors, whether considered malignant or not, can impact functions of the brain spanning across the entirety of the body.
