Georgia Resident Arrested in Relation to Fraud by Carter County Sheriff’s Office

Ellsinore, MO. – A man from Georgia has been arrested following an investigation of fraud by the Carter County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the release from the Sheriff’s Office, this happened on July 1st, beginning with a local business calling regarding suspected fraudulent activity. Upon arrival, law enforcement detained the suspect who had initially provided a false identity with false ID and a fraudulent credit card.

Using the card, the suspect, later identified as Kevin Crawford of Austell, Georgia, had stolen $600 worth of products from the store, and was attempting to do the same again with an additional $750 worth of products.

Crawford admitted to getting the fraudulent card and ID from the dark web, and that he was aware of the scam he was a part of. He was arrested and faces two felony charges of Forgery, a felony charge of ID Theft or Attempt, and a felony charge of Fraudulent Use of a Credit Device.
