Glenwood School cancelled classes for Thursday and Friday due to a large number of students being absent due to illness, along with some school staff members who were also sick. Superintendent Lucas Brown tells Ozark Radio News that the school administration has been keeping an eye on attendance levels in recent days, as more and more students were either absent, or had to be sent home during the school day. Along with a stomach bug and strep, many students had become sick with Influenza A.
Brown says that younger students have especially been affected, with some classes having more than half of the students absent. Custodial staff is doing a deep clean of the school in an effort to remove any trace of the viruses. School is scheduled to resume on Monday.
West Plains R-VII schools are still maintaining acceptable attendance levels to keep school in session, though some have been affected by the myriad of viruses that have been circulating in the West Plains area.
