Grand jury indicts MV woman for Social Security fraud scheme

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A Mountain View, Missouri woman has been indicted by a federal grand jury on fraud charges relating to Social Security.

A news release from the U.S. Attorney’s office-Western District of Missouri says 46-year-old Laura Oglesby was charged in an 8-count indictment handed down October 1. Those charges include three counts of intentionally furnishing false information to the Social Security Administration, four counts of aggravated identity theft, and one count of false representation of a social security number.

The indictment alleges Oglesby fraudulently applied for a Social Security card by using the information of another person and used a fraudulent Social Security number and the stolen identity of another person in a student account promissory note submitted to an educational institution in the area.

The news release says Oglesby has not been apprehended at this time. If you know of her whereabouts contact your local law enforcement agency or the Social Security Administration-Office of Inspector General at 1-855-829-8922.

The case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s office and was investigated by the Social Security Administration and the Mountain View Police Department.
