Missouri and Arkansas – The Baxter County Library is inviting families to join in on the adventure of the Great American Eclipse Family Days. The Eclipse Family Days are a series of educational events taking place. All ages are invited to attend.
On Saturday, March 2, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Movies, Moon Pies, Crafts, and More event. There you will create your solar system-themed keychain or bracelet, while watching movies, such as La Luna, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and “The Library” episode. Moon Pies will be handed out to eat during the event.
On Saturday, March 9, 2024, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., the event Solar Ovens & The 100-yard Solar System will take place. Here the families will learn to make a solar oven and participate in building a 100-yard model of our solar system. Between 2:30 and 3:30 there will be a race to see how fast you can run the distance of the solar system model.
On Saturday, March 23, 2024, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., families can experience the solar system through sun scopes and sun oculars. During this, there will be a reading of Moon Bear’s Shadow, as well as, a big game of NASA’s “How Big, How Hot, How Far”.

Some more events going on in the area for the Solar Eclipse is the 4-Day West Plains Festival- this includes concerts, comedy shows, 5K runs, pancake breakfasts, Sunshine Festival with vendor booths, art event shows, carnivals, dodgeball tournaments, and fireworks.
