Hall of Famous Missourians welcomes Porter Wagoner

West Plains native and Country Music Superstar Porter Wagoner was inducted Monday (3/2) into the Hall of Famous Missourians.

Known as Mr. Grand Ole Opry, Wagoner charted 81 singles from 1954 to 1983. He was elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2002.

On hand for Wagoner’s induction ceremony was his granddaughter, Christinia McCormick of Paducah, Kentucky.

Former Missouri Speaker of the House Todd Richardson and State Representative David Evans were directly involved in Wagoner’s induction. Evans spoke about the process of getting Wagoner in the hall:

Wagoner’s bronze bust will be on display on the third floor rotunda at the Missouri State Capitol in Jefferson City.
