Mountain Home, AR. – Two grocery stores, owned and operated as Harps within the Mountain Home area, have been the targets of falsified bomb threats for the purpose of extortion within the past week, which caused their temporary closure.
The first target of the threats is listed as Harps Store #156, located at 2089 HWY 62 West at roughly 9:20 am. After the call was received on Friday, April 28th, the store was evacuated and a search was conducted. It was then that another bomb threat call was made to the second Harps store, #135 at 924 East Hwy 62. No bombs were located during either search.
According to KTLO in Mountain Home, the manager of store #156 stated the caller had a foreign accent and attempted to extort the store for $5,000 in gift cards under threat of bomb detonation. The manager went on to state they had received an e-mail from Harps corporate stating similar bomb threats had been occurring at other locations.
