West Plains, Mo. – On Monday, March 21, 2022, Deputy Smith with the Howell County Sheriff’s Office, observed a blue Ford Mustang on Garner Boulevard in West Plains. The vehicle matched the description of a vehicle that had been reported stolen the day prior in West Plains. Deputy Smith attempted to conduct a traffic stop with the vehicle and it failed to yield to emergency lights and siren. The vehicle was pursued on several county roads and state highways at high rates of speed. The vehicle was located a short time later as the suspect was attempting to conceal the vehicle behind a residence on State Route K. Jonathan D. Wilson of Rockford, IL was arrested and placed on a 24 hour detention, pending the formal charge of resisting arrest and stealing a motor vehicle. A statement of probable cause was forwarded to the Howell County Prosecutors Office.

Wilson had previously been arrested on December 19, 2021 for Resisting Arrest/Detention/Stop By Fleeing – Creating A Substantial Risk Of Serious Injury/Death To Any Person, a class E Felony, and was released on $10,000 bond. He was arrested for Domestic Assault in West Plains on December 9, 2021 and has a warrant from Ellsinore, Mo. for Exceeded Posted Speed Limit (16-19 Mph Over) according to the Missouri Courts website.
