Officials at the Howell County Health Department have announced that this year’s annual flu vaccination clinic for West Plains will be held on October 8th and 9th. The clinic will be held at the Howell County Health Department at 180 Kentucky Ave. West Plains. HCHD director, Chris Gilliam, reports that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s vaccination clinic will be a drive thru event. In an effort to reduce wait times and traffic congestion, this year’s clinic will be conducted over two days. Adults and children ages 10 and over whose last name begins with A thru M are asked to participate from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm on Thursday, October 8th. Adults and children ages 10 and over whose last name begins with N thru Z are asked to participate from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm on Friday, October 9th. A separate clinic for children 9 years of age and younger will be held by appointment on Friday, October 23rd. Call to schedule an appointment at 256-7078.
Flu vaccination clinics are also scheduled for Mountain View and Willow Springs. The clinic for Mountain View is scheduled for Tuesday, October 14th at the Good Samaritan Clinic at 501 US Hwy 60 in Mountain View. The hours for this clinic are 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. The clinic for Willow Springs is scheduled for October 14, at the United Methodist Church at 4th and Harris in Willow Springs. The hours for this clinic will be 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm.
To help slow the spread of COVID-19, the health department asks that all participants wear a mask at all events. They ask that those participating in the West Plains clinic, that there be no more than four to a car or one per window of the vehicle, as injections will be given to participants in their automobiles. In addition, participants are encouraged to wear loose fitting sleeves to allow access to the upper arm.
