Howell County Health Department has reported that they are currently working with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services in an effort to identify the source of the reporting discrepancy in the COVID-19 case count between the two agencies.
The count report provided by DHSS indicates that Howell County has had fifteen cases whereas HCHD has reported 13 cases. Health Department Administrator Chris Gilliam has reported that a number of concerned citizens had notified his office of the discrepancy as early as yesterday afternoon.
Though the source of the error has not been identified at this time, Gilliam states, “We are confident that the numbers we are reporting out are accurate.” The number of cases of COVID-19 in Howell County currently stands at thirteen.
