Heatwave in the Ozarks This Week

As we step into this coming week, the Ozarks is going to see it’s hottest days of the year. A heat advisory is in effect today from 11AM to 8PM, due to the triple digit heat index values. The high temperatures will likely only be exacerbated by the high humidity we’ll be experiencing.

That being said, we’d like to remind you to stay cautious and aware of heat-related illness. Over 1300 people in the US die every year to extreme heat. Symptoms could include dizziness, heavy sweating, nausea, weakness, confusion, and unconsciousness. Act quickly if you see a person suffering from these symptoms. Move them to a cool space, help them loosen clothing and remove excess layers, and assist with cool water for both drinking and cooling. If symptoms don’t improve, don’t hesitate to contact emergency personnel.
