West Plains, MO. – An attempted traffic stop Saturday afternoon in West Plains led to a high-speed chase and drug arrest in Bakersfield. Magnum J. Price, age 34 of West Plains, was arrested on December 17 after running from Howell County Deputies after they attempted to pull over Price on Garner Boulevard in West Plains.
Price fled from law enforcement in a silver Chevrolet Camaro west on U.S. Highway 160, turning onto State Route 101 after reaching Caulfield, and continuing into Ozark County. The chase ended after the Camaro came to a stop on State Route O in Bakersfield, Missouri, where Price was taken into custody.
Law enforcement officers searches Price’s person and recovered a bag containing roughly 8 grams of suspected methamphetamine.
Price was transported to the Howell County Adult Detention Center where he was booked on an outstanding Howell County arrest warrant for Possession of a Controlled Substance. Price was also placed on a 24-Hour Hold Pending Formal Charges. Charges for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Resisting Arrest-Felony, and Driving While Revoked has been forwarded to the Howell County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
The Howell County Sheriff’s Office, the Ozark County Sheriff’s Office, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol assisted in the pursuit and arrest.
