Overnight high winds swept through the region, causing widespread power outages across the Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative system early this morning. At the peak of the outages, approximately 1,000 members were without power. Crews have been working tirelessly through the night to restore service, and as of now, just over 250 members remain without electricity.
Outages have been reported from Dora on the west side of the service area to Eminence on the east, with several other locations affected in between. Strong winds are expected to continue throughout the day, and members are urged to stay alert and keep a safe distance from any downed power lines they may encounter.
Members can report outages through the SmartHub mobile app, the cooperative’s website at www.hoecoop.org, or by calling 417-256-2131 or 888-HOE-POWER.
Safety Reminder: Never approach or attempt to move a downed power line — always assume it is live and dangerous.
Outages are also being reported for other rural electric customers. Power outages are being reported in Texas, Douglas and Shannon Counties.
