Pomme De Terre Lake, MO. – One individual from Houston, MO., has drowned in a lake located in Hickory County, MO on June 7th, 2023.
This information comes to us from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Troop D. The investigator of this fatal incident was Master Sergeant D.H. Brown.
Steven Kessler, a 59-year-old from Houston, was on a boat adrift within a cove, when he dove off of the vessel to swim at roughly 2:40pm. He then surfaced, and stated he couldn’t breathe. People nearby attempted to assist and tossed Kessler a lifejacket, but they were unable to keep him above water.
Kessler was retrieved from the water, and CPR was conducted until medical professionals arrived on-scene. All life saving attempts were unsuccessful, and Kessler was pronounced deceased at 4:11pm.
