Rolla, MO. – It appears the same ATM bandits that hit multiple locations last year in the Salem and Houston areas have reappeared again and are using their tell-tale, but so-far-successful method of ATM robbery.
The tactics of the robbers typically involve using a stolen vehicle to approach an ATM, using cheap tools, chains, and the vehicle to quickly break apart all compartments of an ATM, take all the money inside, and get away in as quickly as under two minutes. They also abandon the stolen vehicle used in the robbery and get away in a separate vehicle parked out-of-sight of any cameras. This all takes place in the early morning hours, between 2 to 4am.
The latest successful crimes took place near the Phelps County area, as reported by the Rolla Police Department. They state two ATMs were hit, one in Versailles, and the other in Greenview. As such, they are remaining in full-alert. Authorities are suggesting that if the public sees any suspicious activities, to not approach and to immediately call the authorities using 911.
