Howell Co. reports 5 new COVID-19 cases, currently 23 active cases

Howell County Health Department reports that an additional five cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the county. This brings the year to date total number of cases to one hundred and seventy-nine. Currently, there are twenty-three known active cases in the county. Of the twenty-three cases, one is currently hospitalized with COVID-19.

Four of the new cases reside in the West Plains area and one lives in the Willow Springs area. All five cases are currently isolating under public health guidance. The investigation into these cases indicates that three of these cases were community spread, or the source was unknown and two have been linked to known cases. Significant contacts to these cases have been notified by the health department. There were no reported exposures to the general population from these cases.
