Howell Co. reports 90 year-to-date cases of COVID-19

Howell County Health Department reports that an additional ten cases of COVID-19 have now been identified, bringing the year to date total in Howell County to ninety.

Forty-one cases are on active status or on isolation at this time, while 5 of the cases are currently hospitalized with COVID-related complications.

Nine of the new cases are identified as West Plains residents while one reportedly lives in the Mountain View area.

The source of contact for nine of the cases is considered community spread and the remaining one is linked to a known case. Contact tracing has been completed on all cases and significant contacts to all have been notified by the health department.

Tuesday, July 21st            12:00pm – 12:45pm Subway (Southern Hills) West Plains

Tuesday, July 21st            9:00pm – 10:00pm Dairy Queen West Plains

People visiting these locations during the dates and times identified are at LOW risk of contracting COVID-19, but should monitor themselves for symptoms.  Anyone who develops symptoms of COVID-19 should contact their health care provider regarding testing and take all necessary precautions to avoid exposing others.

Symptoms of COVID may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. Symptoms of COVID-19 include:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
