Howell Co. reports six new COVID-19 cases

Officials at the Howell County Health Department report that the six additional Howell County residents have tested positive for COVID-19. This case brings the number of cases identified in the county to 61. Known active cases in the county currently stands at 13.

Case number 56 is isolating at home in the Caulfield area and following public health guidance. Their infection is thought to have occurred while on out of state travel. The contact tracing investigation indicates that there have been no significant contacts with the general public in Howell County, however, there was potential for public exposure on Saturday, July 11th at Lost Woods golf course in Theodosia, Missouri. HCHD has notified Ozark County Health Department of the potential for community exposure in their county.  Identified contacts to the case have been notified.

Case number 57 is currently isolating at their residence in West Plains. Their infection was community spread, while working on an out of state job.  Contact tracing on the case does not indicate that there has been any exposures to the public in the area.

Case 58 is also resides in the West Plains area. They are currently isolating at home under public health guidance. Their infection has been identified as community spread. Tracing indicates that the infection likely occurred while on an out of state job. There are no exposures to the general public in our area to report, as a result of this case.

The 59th case identified to date resides in West Plains. They are on isolation at their residence under public health guidance. Contact tracing on the case indicates that the case is a contact to a previously identified case. Investigation into the case does not indicate that exposure to the general public is a concern. Contacts to the case have been notified.

Number 60, a West Plains resident, is currently in the hospital and reportedly doing well.  Investigation of the case indicates that the infection likely occurred while at camp recently.  Contact tracing indicates that exposure to the public from this case is not a concern. Significant contacts to the case have been notified.

Case number 61 resides in the Pomona area. They are currently on home isolation following public health guidance. Investigation of the case indicates that the infection was community spread. Significant contacts to the case have been notified by the health department. Community exposures with this case are limited to the following:

     Saturday, July 11th           7:30 pm to 8:00 pm        Walmart West Plains
     Saturday, July 11th           8:00 pm to 8:15 pm        Big Lots West Plains

People at this location during the date and times identified are at LOW risk for contracting COVID-19, but should monitor themselves for symptom.  Anyone who develops symptoms of COVID should contact their health care provider regarding testing and take all necessary precautions to avoid exposing others.
