Howell County Emergency Management has received a grant for a Mass notification system for Howell County. Residents are encouraged to download the Smart 911 app from the Google play store or Apple Store and register to receive alerts by Texts, Email or Phone calls for Emergency notifications.
Users may choose what notifications they want to receive. Once registered, you can opt out of SMS messages at any time by texting STOP to 226787. You can also sign up by visiting:
https://www.smart911.com/smart911/ref/reg.action?pa=HCEM
This service is free, and users may enter any information in the app they would like for 911 call takers to receive in the event you call 911 at participating 911 centers across the U.S.
Residents in Howell County who do not have cell phones or computers may also be registered for call notifications with assistance from a friend or relative who does have internet access by visiting and creating an account at:
https://www.smart911.com/smart911/ref/reg.action?pa=HCEM
All Howell County Landline phones have been registered in our system and may receive an alert call in the event of a large-scale Emergency in Howell County. Landline users may choose to opt out of any calls or notifications by contacting Howell County Emergency Management at 417-255-0515 and if no answer leave a name and phone number stating you would like to be removed from the list. Or by sending an Email to howellcountyemd@gmail.com with the same information.
Citizens in Howell County can now receive notifications that will improve safety in our county and help inform residents of potentially lifesaving actions to be better prepared in an emergency. Again, all information is optional in the app profile and users do have the ability to choose what details they would like to include. The service is completely free to the public. For further information or questions contact Emergency Management Director Mike Coldiron at 417-255-0515
