Howell County, MO. – On March 8, 2024, the Howell County Sheriff and several Missouri representatives visited the Howell Valley R-1 School District.
Sheriff Brent Campbell, Missouri Senator Karla Eslinger, 154th Representative David Evans, 143rd District Representative Bennie Cook, and 155th Representative Travis Smith spent the day at Howell Valley school district to have lunch with the student body and give a presentation at an assembly with the kids. At the assembly, they went over the basics of See something, Say something and the proper way to report suspicious activity and concerns for a classmate (such as bullying, concerns of abuse, and lack of care) to a trusted adult. See Something, Say Something is a US Department of Homeland Security campaign talking about the signs of terrorism and the duty of individuals to report suspicious activities in the community.
Following the assembly, Sheriff Campbell visited with some of the younger kids during their class and went over the same thing and also took the opportunity to speak with them about the powers of social media platforms over children and adults.
The opportunity to visit the school was given to them by a Field Representative for US Congressman Jason Smith of the 8th Congressional District Megan Nickey.
