I would like to bring to the attention to Howell County Citizens the following investigation. Commend the related staff of the attention to detail and follow through and great example of looking beyond the stop or associated call for service that resulted in the following.
On June 11, 2021 at approximately 0543 hours, Deputy Matt Roberts OSN 276 and Deputy Melanie Roam OSN 227 received a call for service to respond to Private Road 4631 in Howell County, Missouri in reference to a report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, Deputies met with the reporting party and the possible suspect, Thomas Kazimir. It was determined Kazimir had not committed crime at that location.
During the course of the investigation it was determined Kazimir may be in possession of stolen items. The investigation into the stolen items is ongoing; however, at this time 45 stolen items with a value of approximately $4,800.00 have been recovered in Howell County. These items had been reported stolen in nine (9) burglaries and thefts from Howell County, Shannon County, Polk County, Willow Springs, Mo, and Springfield, Mo.
Numerous other stolen items were located in Pawn Shops across the State of Missouri. These items are valued in excess of $2,000. Deputies are currently working with the victims and the pawn shops to ensure the stolen property can be claimed by the rightful owners.
The investigation also revealed stolen items that had yet to be reported missing, as of the date of the recovery.
As part of the investigation Lt. Torey Thompson and Deputy Matt Roberts applied for and were granted a search warrant for a residence in Howell County. Upon serving this search warrant another $1,085.00 in stolen property was recovered. Additional suspects and charges are being sought as a result of these items recovered.
Kazimir is currently being held in the Howell County Jail with a $15,000 bond. As the investigation continues, Deputies will be forwarding additional charges to the Howell County Prosecuting Attorney.
Deputies are still attempting to locate and recover numerous other stolen items associated with these thefts and burglaries. Items being sought include Stihl Chainsaws, Stihl Leaf Blowers, a Stihl Weed eater and DeWalt Cordless power tools.
