Howell County Sheriff warns of continued scams

WEST PLAINS, Mo. — Howell County Sheriff Mike Shannon says scam phone calls continue to annoy area residents and drain their savings accounts.

He reminds residents to simply hang up on any and all calls that purport to be from the IRS, the Social Security Administration, or any other government agency:

He added that government officials will send you letters in the mail regarding any issues or changes. However, he says scammers have started to catch on to this and have begun sending things via the US Postal Service:
