Howell County Sheriff’s Office Makes Arrest; Recovers Stolen Vehicle

West Plains, MO. – On May 25th of 2022, the Howell County Sheriff’s Office arrested an individual driving recklessly outside of West Plains, and recovered a stolen vehicle as a result.

Deputy Weaver of the Howell County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call on County Road 6920 about a driver driving imprudently. After locating the vehicle and attempting to stop them, the vehicle attempted to escape, during which the driver even traveled into opposing lanes of traffic.

After a pursuit of several miles, the driver abandoned the in-motion vehicle and attempted to flee on foot.

A records check of the vehicle was conducted and it was discovered to be stolen.

The suspect was apprehended and has been identified. Charges include: Felony Resisting Arrest, Stealing a Motor Vehicle, and Property Damage 2nd Degree are being forwarded to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
