Howell County Sheriff’s Office Releases April 2024 Jail Report

West Plains, MO. – The Howell County Sheriff’s Office has recently been making many documents, reports, and other workings of their organization known through public announcements via multiple mediums. The Sheriff’s Office is obligated to put together and submit reports to the Howell County Circuit court on the operations of the county jail, and the latest one has been made available to the public.

The findings of the report state that the county jail is consistently operating at or over max capacity, and multiple inmates were transported to other facilities in preparation for eclipse plans. Further statements from the document say that multiple aspects of the facility have been found wanting and that there is a growing need to see a further expansion of the facility and its resources to better service its purpose.
