West Plains, MO. – The Howell County Special Olympics team will be heading to state competitions in Jefferson City on Friday, October 7, 2022 at 8 a.m. The team will be leaving from the East Town Village, located on Bill Virdon Boulevard, and will be escorted by local law enforcement and emergency personnel.
This marks the first trip to state competitions for these athletes since the COVID-19 pandemic began in 2020. The last competition the Howell County team participated in was during late August at the regional softball tournament in Lees Summit. Team Lightning took home 1st Place and Team Thunder took 2nd.

This weekend is the 2022 State Outdoor Games, with competitions in Bocce, Flag Football, Golf, Tennis, and Softball.
