Howell County, MO. – Veterans Day is this weekend, on Saturday, November 11th. To coincide with this holiday, various schools and organizations will be stepping in with their own way to honor those who served in the armed forces.
In Willow Springs, the school district will be holding a Veterans Day breakfast and assembly on Friday, November 10th. This will occur at 8:15 a.m. in the bear den, and an assembly will follow.
West Plains High School will also be having a breakfast and assembly on the same day, occurring at 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., respectively.
The St Paul Lutherans Church in Willow Springs will be having a Veterans Appreciation meal on Saturday, November 11th from 6am to noon. This will be at 701 East Main Street in Willow Springs.
There will be a Veterans Luncheon at the American Legion Hall in Willow Springs from 11am to 1:30pm. This event is free to veterans and their families. 417 252 4373 for more information.
The Junction Hill School will also be holding their own Veterans Day ceremony, but this will occur in the afternoon at 2:45 p.m. in their gymnasium. This event will include songs, poems, and other performances thanking veterans. Local veteran Staff Sergeant Scott Fontenot will be the keynote speaker.
Mountain View will be holding a Veterans Day breakfast as well, with times being 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Mountain View Community Center. Liberty School will also be hosting an assembly and a free lunch for veterans and their families starting at 10:30 a.m.
Another event on this list is the 21st annual Veterans Appreciation Luncheon to be held at the West Plains Civic Center, following the Veterans Day Parade. This luncheon is free to all area veterans and their families and was made possible through various community donations.
Lastly, the annual West Plains Veterans Day parade will be happening at 11 a.m., with the line-up being at the corner of Porter Waggoner and Broadway, before traveling down Porter Waggoner and towards the square.
