Humansville, MO. – Protestors recently started an uproar in Humansville after the Board of Aldermen shut down their police department. This move effectively terminated Police Chief Ryan Snow who started the investigation.
The Aldermen said that the vote was a 2-2 vote to get rid of the police force and Mayor Tracy Mason broke the tie. This caused many of the community members to call for the resignation of the mayor.
Many protestors stated online and at the scene that they needed police. “We need police,” said Humansville resident Dixie Smith. “I don’t care if it’s one or a dozen. Because without it, we’re screwed. I’m not going to beat around the bush. We’re screwed.”
In a statement released by Chief Ryan Snow, he stated, ” It is deeply disappointing and, in my opinion, an irresponsible move that disregards the safety and well-being of the residents of Humansville. It has become evident that this decision was made in retaliation for the multiple state investigations that have been launched under my watch. These investigations were aimed at addressing serious issues within the city’s administration.”
The investigation into the missing public funds was launched at the beginning of April 2024. It started when investigators received a tip from a concerned citizen after the Missouri State Highway Patrol showed up at Humansville City Hall asking for financial documents.
