Increased Fire Risk and Reg Flag Warnings Continue for the Ozarks

Despite any recent rain or humidity, fire departments across the area are reporting high volumes of fire calls being performed, and the National Weather Service has stated that the listening area is under a red flag warning with a “significant” risk value, with a wind advisory extending through the day.

Over the weekend, the Cabool Fire Department made a statement that “5 or more major fires” were occurring simultaneously within Texas and Wright Counties, and just yesterday, the Roby Fire Department stated they were called to 3 separate incidents within a 15 minute period.

While the red flag warning is in effect, the public is asked to refrain from starting any fires, whether it be for getting rid of trash, managing their yard waste, or for recreational activities. Do not leave an open flame unattended. The National Weather Service suggests that all cigarettes are properly discarded and accounted for, vehicles are kept off of dry grass, and all burn bans are observed until conditions improve.
