Licking, MO. – The South Central Correctional Center reported the death of an inmate on Friday, April 26th, 2024. Inmate Roberto Ayala, 60, was pronounced dead at 8:03 p.m. by Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, MO.
Ayala was serving 9 years for first-degree involuntary manslaughter from Buchanan County. He had reportedly been driving while intoxicated and failed to yield to oncoming traffic. Ayala then struck and killed a motorcyclist at the intersection.

Roberto Ayala was received in the Missouri Department of Corrections on April 7, 2022. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
