Inmate with Gainesville ties escapes

Stolen vehicle potentially linked to escaped DOC Inmate Jason M Laird

Jason M Laird, 44 years old from the Gainsville, MO area, escaped while on DOC work release at the Missouri State fairgrounds around 4:00 PM. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, gray pants and black boots. He was being housed at the Tipton Correctional Facility.

On 06/23/2021, shortly before 6:00 AM, the Sedalia Police Department was notified that a MODOT maintenance shed near Gate 11 on the Fairgrounds had been broken into and a state truck was stolen. Surveillance video at the shed indicated the vehicle was stolen around 11:30 PM.

The vehicle is a white 2013 Chevrolet Silverado Duramax 2500 bearing MO state plate 110189M. The vehicle had chrome running boards. Below is a similar example of what this vehicle looks like along with an example of what this style of State of Missouri plate looks like. Again, these are examples.

Given the timing of the theft and Jason’s disappearance, it is possible that Mr Laird stole the Silverado.
44 year old Mr Laird is a white male, 5’03” tall, 160 pounds with blue eyes. If you see him or this vehicle, please do not approach and contact 911.
