Intoxicated Driver Strikes Tree; Vehicle Occupant Seriously Injured

Licking, MO. – A one-vehicle crash that involved an intoxicated driver has ended with serious injuries being inflicted to an occupant, according to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash summary states that Lewis Brett, 23 of Licking, was the driver in this accident on Highway N in Texas County. Traveling at a high rate of speed, they ran off the roadway before striking a fence and a tree, suffering minor injuries. They were later found to be intoxicated at the time of the crash. One occupant however, Shakirah Williams, 22 of Licking, was inflicted with serious injuries in the event.

Neither were wearing a safety device and both were taken to Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston for treatment.

This crash took place 7 miles northwest of Licking at 2:50am of Sunday, March 24th. Brett is facing two criminal misdemeanor charges due to driving without a license, and driving while intoxicated.
