Intoxicated Motorcycle Driver Injured After Striking Deer Near Hartville

West Plains, MO. – A Mansfield man was badly hurt after hitting a deer with a motorcycle Wednesday night. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the incident occurred at 8:45 p.m. on Highway V, five miles west of the Highway 5 intersection in Wright County. 

A westbound 2018 Harley Davidson driven by Jimmy Nichols, age 46, struck a deer in the roadway and crashed. Nichols had not been wearing a safety device at the time of the crash and suffered serious injuries, requiring him to be taken by helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

Nichols was charged with misdemeanor Driving While Intoxicated and No Motorcycle Endorsement following the crash.
