Following the retirement of City of West Plains Mayor Jack Pahlmann and the promotion of Mayor Pro-Tem Mike Topliff: a vacancy was left on the West Plains City Council.
Friday afternoon, the new Mayor, city council and city administrator interviewed five potential council members. They were: Ron Grennan, Paul Bradshaw, John Niesen, Roy Sims, and Donald McClellan. Following deliberation, the council chose to appoint Niesen.

Topliff explained the council’s choice:
Niesen will be sworn in prior to the start of the May 17 City Council meeting and will serve until April of 2022.
