Josiah Howell SAR Inducts News Members, Presents Awards

WEST PLAINS, MISSOURI: Josiah Howell Chapter, National Society Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) was pleased to induct two new members at their meeting on Saturday, December 7th, 2024. Pictured is Vice President Garry Pirch administering the oath of membership to Sam Smith (on left) being pinned by his mother Jonett Smith, a DAR Daughter of the Rachel Donnelson Chapter, Springfield, Missouri, as well as David Wheeler (far right) being pinned by his wife Sharon Wheeler, DAR Daughter of the Ozark Spring Chapter, West Plains, Missouri. Congratulations to these men who proved their ancestry back to Revolutionary War patriots. Also, Congratulations to Josiah Howell SAR Chapter on receiving these two new compatriots into their group!

Additionally, Vice President Garry Pirch was pleased to present a certificate of appreciation to Mr. John Hass for the presentation of his “Mountain Man” program at the chapter’s October meeting. Historic Preservation is a vital principle of the National Society Sons of the American Revolution (NSSAR), and the chapter was grateful to recognize Mr. Hass’ presentation on the fur trading industry and how it has influenced events and economical change over the course of time in American history.

As part of the National Society Sons of the American Revolution (NSSAR), the Josiah Howell SAR Chapter is a non-profit organization whose goals are to promote Historical Preservation, Education, and Patriotism as a group of men who have proven direct lineal descent from a patriot who served in the American Revolution. The chapter encourages individuals in the community interested in membership to attend the local meetings and work on obtaining the necessary documents to prove lineage to patriot ancestors.
