Juneteenth Celebration Kicked off with Friday Car Show at Lincoln School

The Lincoln School Project Juneteenth and Centennial celebration kicked of Friday June 19th with the public arriving
around 9:30am at the Lincoln School at 1400E Pony Thomas drive. Festivities began officially with a car and truck show
beginning at10am. Approximately 30 cars and trucks were in attendance.

At 11am the Lincoln School History program took attendants on a journey through the history of the Lincoln School. Interpretive Drum Presentations happened throughout the day with a continued history and artifact presentation happening at 3pm. Preservation efforts for the Lincoln School were also discussed. At 5pm there was a Whole Hog Dinner at the Peoples Park Pavilion for alumni, guests, families, and friends.

The celebration continues through Sunday with live music on the square beginning at 11am on Saturday and continueing
with a Dinner Gala that evening at the Lincoln School.

Sunday brings the celebration to a close with a sunrise service at the historic Sadie Brown Cemetery located at 4791 rt 14,
north of West Plains.
