West Plains, MO. – A jury trial date has been set for the six former school employees charged with child abuse. The six women are Barbara Baker, Barbara Stark, Cheryl O’Farrell Silva, Karen Gore, Teresia Huddleston, and Vernetta Burges.
The women are each charged with Abuse or Neglect of a Child under section 568.060.5(1) and Endangering the Welfare of a Child Creating Substantial Risk. The jury trial is scheduled for November 14 and 15 in the Howell County Courthouse under Judge Steven Privette. A pretrial conference will be held on November 6th and all pretrial motions are due by October 30.
The six women were terminated in the spring of 2022 following incidents at the Ozark Horizon State School in West Plains. In August last year, charges against the individuals were officially made.
