Last Week, Sept. 26th – 29th, Designated “Black Walnut Week”

Missouri – As a result of the coming season, many people are gearing up to forage throughout the state, collecting aspects of edible Missouri nature. The week that just passed, September 26th through the 29th, has been officially designated as “Black Walnut Week” by Missouri Officials.

Governor Mike Parson went on record during the official proclamation, reminiscing on his experiences collecting black walnuts like many other families within the state.

This recognition of a specific week is due to the Missouri Department of Agriculture celebrating the state’s position nationally on overall black walnut production.

This proclamation was made at the Black Walnut Festival in Stockton, MO.
