Community leadership development program, LEAD West Plains, launched its government session yesterday at West Plains City Hall, providing participants with valuable insights into local governance. Aspiring community leaders had the opportunity to engage directly with Howell County and city officials to better understand the roles and responsibilities of public service.
The session featured Howell County Commissioners Ralph Riggs, Calvin Wood, and Bruce Williams, alongside West Plains Mayor Mike Topliff, Councilman John Niesen, and City Administrator Sam Anselm. These officials took time from their schedules to share their experiences, discuss local government operations, and connect with the next generation of leaders.
LEAD West Plains is designed to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to make a meaningful impact in the community. Through sessions like this, participants gain firsthand experience in decision-making processes, public policy, and civic engagement.
The program continues to foster strong relationships between local leadership and the community, ensuring that West Plains remains a place of growth and collaboration.
