A piece of city infrastructure that was destroyed over three years ago returns to West Plains.
The Lincoln Substation had been out of service since a devastating substation fire in November 2021. Since then, City of West Plains officials have been diligently working with insurance companies, engineers, and contractors to restore this critical piece of infrastructure. Their dedication and collaboration have been instrumental in bringing the substation back online.
City crews have been hard at work installing distribution lines to reconnect the substation to the electrical grid.
West Plains City Utilities shared these details of the Lincoln Substation:
The powering of the Lincoln Substation brings several key benefits to residents and businesses:
– Improved Reliability: The additional substation reduces the load on our existing infrastructure, minimizing the risk of outages and ensuring consistent power delivery during peak demand times.
– Enhanced Capacity: As West Plains continues to grow, the Lincoln Substation provides the infrastructure needed to support our community’s expanding energy needs.
This project wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work and dedication of our utilities team, contractors, and local leaders. From planning and design to construction and testing, the process has been a collaborative effort to ensure the best possible outcomes for West Plains.
The Lincoln Substation’s activation is just one part of our broader commitment to investing in our community’s infrastructure. As we move forward, we’ll continue exploring opportunities to improve efficiency, sustainability, and service quality for all of our customers.
We’d like to thank you, our valued customers, for your patience and support throughout this project. Together, we’re building a stronger, brighter future for West Plains.
